I think it's the way data is prioritized by the game engine and location seems to be dead last. If it was just lag all the damage you were taking while lagging would spike you all at once. Compound this with the bad collision detection this game has and bam, your rubberbanding all over the place. This happens too much and needs to be fixed, it's not a simple as a connection problem.

Well, I guess a ping of 20k+ is a lot. I personally average about 80ish on ping, and going up to 20k+ really couldn't be the fault of window mode, could it?

Am I the only one that notices the OP says the game used to perform fine for him, and now he experiences lag, its not like hes been getting laggy performance from day one, at least according to his post ?
I experience intermittent periods of lag, it started the day I installed NF. Seems to get bad when the server would seem to be on a high load. Other times the game performs great, big battles multiple mobs aggroed, trying to induce lag, and nothing,so I find it kinda strange, but it seemed to be worst when the event was running, so Im gonna put it off to server load, While I just squeak by with the reccomended(not minimum)req.s, I was worried that I wouldnt be able to fully enjoy NF, but the last couple of days have been relatively lag free, no more 10 minute zone into town at least, that seemed to be a short lived phenom thank goodness.

I've grown into a habbit of making sure that the little lightning bolt over your lag meter is gone before i do anything. That'll help a little as your bandwidth isnt being used to download things from Anet.

But usually i dont experience lag if i happen to forget to let it finish =]

I think it's more of a problem with the pathing system than server lag. If you see yourself taking damage when it looks like you're in the clear, stop and press c+space or use a skill and it usually snaps you back into synch. It doesn't make the problem any less annoying, but it at least shows you where you really are.

Yup same problem as OP played NF fine at start , when xmas update came with the winterdecorations and the ping dot and party search, i been laggin badly.

I give the blame to one of two things,
The winter season currently in GW ( means more people in game)
Something thats wrong in the last update thats causing us to lose packets.

After winter has passed in GW i will look again and hope the lag is back to normal.

I didn't see this mentioned but you should defrag your main game file. After nightfall cam out I lagged real bad. But after defragging that file I run a lot smoother....

Yup! There is definately a problem and it has got worse over the months.

Was in a "Grenth district" during the wintersday games and as soon as the little grenchies came out killing, everybody and I mean everyone was complaining or laughing about the lag and all were reporting pings in the region of 11k+ over local chat.

Not good and it needs looking at.

Btw for the mods it's not only me who's having troubles here. If it was me I wouldn't make a thread about it.

Err maybe this might be an Explanation for those who live in/near Asia Region playing America Server.
About 30th December there is an earthquake in Taiwan causing continent to continent underwater communication lines broken.
Last time I checked from my nearest Internet new they said they its gonna be late Febuarywhen they gonna finish fixing those lines.
And due to GW PvP system run across all servers its not surprising that you might get LAG effect while playing RA which match you with opponet around the world.

I have gotten lag to. Heck everyone in my party had group lag together. We asked a few of our guildies and lo and behold they had lag too. Somehow I do not think this is on our end.

I should rephrase, I do not think all lag that happens is due to our connection, I do think there are some server-side lag issues which are becomming more prevelent.

Playing RA tonight, my whole team [and a friend whom I was on Skype with] were getting constant stretches of lag. It was ridiculous. :/
